Amy Lewis Gilbert, JD, MPH is Chief Science Officer for the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA), which administers the State’s health coverage and social service programs. As CSO, Gilbert’s role is to help identify evidence priorities across FSSA divisions, ensure those priorities are reflected in agency activities, foster scientific rigor and a focus on the whole person in all evaluation and research endeavors, support the agency’s data governance mission, and disseminate new evidence to internal and external stakeholders to support implementation of evidence-informed policies. Gilbert was previously employed as a pediatric health services researcher at the Indiana University School of Medicine and maintains a voluntary faculty appointment there. She continues to actively engage with the public health community by serving on the boards of the Indiana Public Health Association and the Indiana Health Advocacy Coalition and maintains her legal connections as a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association and the Indiana Bar.
