State Medicaid agencies (SMAs) are facing significant challenges with developing a cohesive enterprise-wide data governance strategy and program that promotes data sharing, drives business value from leveraging data as an asset, and bases policies on evidence essential to the agency’s long-term data-driven vision. With ongoing changes to the healthcare environment and T-MSIS, the critical data and systems component of the CMS Medicaid and CHIP Business Information Solution (MACBIS), the quality and completeness of states’ data is more important than ever. Each state’s unique perspective helps guide the approach to their data governance and how they leverage related information. However, by creating a multi-agency collaborative to share and leverage data governance information, growth opportunities can evolve within individual SMAs and greater data governance outcomes can be achieved. Join this panel (MO, IN, and NC) as it shares some data governance best practices, lessons learned and details from their collaborative efforts.
