This panel will discuss privacy and security requirements for exchanging health data and how health information exchanges can maintain and demonstrate compliance. Privacy and security requirements continue to evolve, and increasingly trading partners want assurance that any shared information will be properly protected. Third-party assurance programs can help HIEs and their partners assess, maintain, and demonstrate their privacy and security programs effectively in the marketplace. The New York State Department of Health (NYS) will discuss its use of the HITRUST CSF Certification Program on behalf of the Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY), its advantages and lessons learned to help others work on HITRUST or similar certifications.
